Summary
  Developing a replacement for the much-loved Focus was an unenviable task, but Ford has successfully delivered. It may not be as visually striking in picture form, but in the metal new Focus is attractive. The fabled driving experience remains as before and there's now more interior space and a genuine feeling of quality, particularly in the dash area. With a comprehensive range of engines and trim levels, there should be something to suit most requirements, although prices have crept up slightly on the old model. This is a very competitive sector and to sell well, a contender has to be very good indeed - Ford has another big seller on its hands.

Behind The Wheel（四星半）
  Ford has tried really hard to raise the Focus's game in terms of quality in an attempt to take the fight to the VW Golf. There are some signs of cost cutting if you look closely in the rear for instance, but this is understandable when you consider what you are getting for your money. On the whole however it is a genuinely classy cabin environment feeling noticeably improved over its predecessor. The driving position offers plenty of adjustment and it is even possible to specify electrically adjustable pedals. Variable assistance power steering makes for easy parking and plenty of feedback on the move.

Comfort（四颗星）
  Focus continues to grow in size and inside it almost feels like it's a size up. There is easily room enough for five adults with good head and leg room even in the rear. It is generally a refined environment in which to travel with limited engine and road noise.

  Trim levels starting from the most basic are Studio, LX, Zetec, Ghia and Titanium. All models get front electric windows and mirrors. LX gets air conditioning, Zetec features enhanced sporty looks and uprated suspension. Ghia has climate control, cruise control and automatic wipers and headlights. Titanium model lacks the cruise control, but gains partial leather and sports seats. The options list is extensive and features satellite navigation, rear-mounted DVD player, electrically-adjustable front seats and pedals, rear sun-blinds and leather upholstery.

Performance（四颗星）
  Petrol engines range from 1.4 to 2.0-litres. The 1.6-litre is available in two forms, one incorporating a new variable camshaft timing system for improved torque and economy. There are two diesel units, a 1.6 and 2.0 litre, with an optional particulate trap for Euro 4 emissions compliance. All models come with a five-speed gearbox except the 2.0 TDCi, which is a six-speeder. An automatic and a seven-speed CVT gearbox are also available. High performance ST and RS versions will be launched later.

Handling（五星）
  One of the Focus's greatest strengths is its handling. Even models with modest powerplants offer an enjoyable driving experience thanks to responsive steering and nimble yet surefooted behaviour through bends. Rivals have sought to catch up in this area, but as yet neither the Golf nor Astra can match Focus. Ride quality also benefits from the sophisticated suspension and occupants will be quite happy as long as the driver isn't enjoying the handling benefits too much. An Eibach sports suspension kit is available for those seeking the ultimate drive.

  There's a generously sized boot and rear seats offer the usual 60:40 split folding capability. In the cabin there are numerous little storage areas front and rear including a front armrest with storage compartment.

  Virtually all models get six airbags (the base model Studio has to make do without curtain airbags). It also scored maximum points in the Euro NCAP crash tests for front and side impact. Optional safety equipment includes adaptive headlights and a traction and stability control system. Anti-theft measures should be pretty good with all models getting an immobiliser and an alarm is fitted on higher spec models.
